Hiring a coach with Austria Bus
What occasions can I hire a coach for?
Airport transfers, conferences, corporate events, incentives, day trips and multi-day group tours. Sports teams and organised religious travel groups can also enquire. Send us your route, dates and group size.
Do you operate your own coaches?
Yes. Austria Bus is operated by AUSTRIAN INCENTIVE SERVICE GmbH. We are the bus company carrying out the transport, with our own fleet in Vienna. Coordinate your vehicle, itinerary and operating times directly with us.
How is the quote calculated?
The main factors are vehicle size, distance, travel dates and operating duration. Empty journeys, waiting time, a second driver, tolls, parking and driver accommodation may also affect costs. Your specific quote defines the included services and possible additional charges.
I have received a lower quote. What should I compare?
Compare capacity, operating duration, included mileage, driver service and additional charges as well as the total price. Share the services you need so we can clarify the scope with you. We quote for the actual scope of service you need.
Which coach size fits my group?
Our own fleet comprises nine coaches with 46 to 77 seats. Passenger numbers, luggage and specific requirements determine the appropriate option. Larger groups can enquire about several coaches. The specific vehicle is confirmed in your quote.
Can I arrange return journeys or several transfer legs?
Yes. Include all pick-up points, destinations, dates and return journeys. Airport transfers need flight numbers and a meeting point. For events, share the operating windows and boarding locations.
Can I enquire about hourly hire or a last-minute journey?
You can request a coach with driver for a few hours, a day or several days. Short-notice enquiries are welcome, subject to individual availability checks. Planning early gives you more choice of vehicles and dates.
Is my journey booked when I submit the form?
No. The form creates a non-binding enquiry. The vehicle, price and itinerary are first agreed in a quote. A booking takes effect only after the agreed confirmation.
What happens if plans change or a vehicle becomes unavailable?
Let us know about changes as early as possible. We assess the impact on timing, costs and availability and agree the next steps with you. In the event of a vehicle failure, we assess suitable replacement options and keep you informed of the next steps.
Working hours and transport regulations
Safe itineraries allow for driving, other work and statutory rest. Distance alone is not enough: boarding, traffic and changes to the programme also affect the duty schedule.
What should transport customers consider?
Agreed transport schedules must comply with EU requirements; tour organisers and other parties in the contracting chain must also agree lawful timings. Include buffers and share the full programme. We assess whether adjustments or a second driver are necessary.
When does a driver need a break?
A break of at least 45 minutes is normally required after 4½ hours of driving. The usual split is 15 minutes followed by 30. For occasional passenger services, the law also permits a different split into two periods of at least 15 minutes each, subject to the relevant conditions; the total remains at least 45 minutes.
How long can a driver drive each day?
Normally up to 9 hours, extended to 10 hours no more than twice a week. Limits are 56 hours per week and 90 hours across two consecutive weeks. Driving time differs from total duty or working time.
Which rest periods affect the itinerary?
Regular rest is at least 11 hours daily and 45 hours weekly. Reductions require legal conditions, including compensation for reduced weekly rest. Weekly rest normally starts within six 24-hour periods. Occasional passenger services may use the 12-day provision under specific conditions; it is not a general exemption.
Why can an overly tight schedule not be confirmed?
Customer requests cannot override statutory limits. Compliance is checked; violations can lead to penalties and interruption of the journey. Programme changes therefore require reassessment.
